Magnetic Field & Galvanometer Simulation Lab

60fps interactive laboratory featuring charged particle cyclotron trajectories (cyclotron radius, helical pitch, velocity filtering) and a virtual moving-coil galvanometer with radial field dynamics and live ammeter/voltmeter conversion calculators.

Marking a lesson complete represents finishing your study of the topic; it does not denote tested mastery.

Learning Objectives

  • Manipulate particle charge, speed, mass, and B-field to observe real-time cyclotron orbits and verify r = mv/(qB).
  • Observe velocity filtering in crossed E and B fields, verifying condition v = E/B for straight passage.
  • Simulate needle deflection in a moving-coil galvanometer and calculate necessary shunt/multiplier values for real-world current and voltage ranges.

Syllabus Topic Outline

Syllabus Laboratory Simulation
  • 1Interactive cyclotron radius and period telemetry
  • 2Crossed electric and magnetic velocity filter mode
  • 3Galvanometer angular deflection simulator under radial B-field
  • 4Ammeter shunt resistor and voltmeter multiplier circuit calculators
Interactive Magnetic Field & Galvanometer Laboratory

Simulate charged particle motion in magnetic fields, cyclotron orbits, velocity filtering, and moving-coil galvanometer meter conversions.

Particle & Field Controls
Particle Species:
Magnetic Flux Density (B):0.50 T
Particle Speed (v):10^6.0 m/s (1.0e+6 m/s)
Velocity Selector Crossed E-Field:
Cyclotron Orbit Telemetry
Trajectory Radius (r):2.09 cm
Orbital Period (T):131.19 ns
Cyclotron Frequency (f):7.62 MHz
Magnetic Force (F_B = qvB):8.01e-14 N
Key Principle: In a perpendicular field, magnetic force provides centripetal acceleration ($qvB = mv^2/r$). The period $T = 2\pi m / (qB)$ is completely independent of particle speed, allowing resonant cyclotron RF acceleration!
